The Millenium Celebrations Committee put on a Norwegian historical play about Olaf Tryggvason and Olav the Saint, the Norwegian kings who brought Christianity to Iceland. 100 actors performed in the play, which is based on Snorri Sturluson

Formal handover of Dr Jakob Benediktsson's book collection, which was transported to Reykholt. The programme was planned in cooperation with Dr Benediktsson's relatives and the publisher Mal og Menning, whose board chose Snorrastofa to house the book collection. On the occasion two speeches on Jakob Benediktsson were held
